FAQ
I’ve put together answers to the questions I’m most often asked about my artwork, my process, and how you can purchase or receive my creations. Miigwetch, Miigwetch, Miigwetch for your support!
Yes, I am from the Aanishinaabe Nation, Odewaa “tribe" from the Great Lakes region of North America.
The woodgrain tells me stories, or I have a story in my head that needs to be told, but when that doesn’t work, I look to the patterns in the natural world.
I use planks of a hardwood species called Eastern White Ash. The grains are quite talkative. I also use ink in various forms - mostly alcohol ink, with markers and highlighters too.
I don’t yet have a permanent physical gallery, so most of my artwork is available online. You can purchase my artwork directly through my website in the Creations section. I also share my work on Instagram and TikTok under Eastern Woodland Art. In addition, my artwork is featured throughout The Truth in Truth and Reconciliation Educational Board Game (Ages 14+), which I created in 2017 and is now published and available for purchase ond my website. Also, The Truth in Truth and Reconciliation Educational Board Game (Ages 7-13) is now available on my website.
I started the artwork, seriously, in November 2015. So far, I have created around 300 individual pieces, ranging from small 10x10cm pieces to large 2mx2m installation pieces. You can explore and purchase many of these creations directly here on my website in the Creations section.
I spilled ink onto a piece of Ash Wood that I bought to build a boat. The ink ran creating these “images," and I just kept going.
All of my artwork is created in Canada. The comic books and art prints, whether on paper or canvas, are produced locally in Canada. My cards and prints come from Prince George, BC, while the merch is made in Montreal. The educational board games are manufactured in China.
The final giclée print is fragile and is prone to scuffing and scratching. So, I have the artwork laminated. The laminate reduces the intensity of the image a bit, but it prevents the scuffing and scratching. The laminate coating also eliminates the need for a glass cover. All you need is to have the print mounted on a backboard and then framed. No glass needed.
I can ship almost anywhere in the world Canada Post delivers. The shipping is free to anywhere in Canada. If you want to ship outside of Canada, please contact me for prices.
I take great care in packaging every art print. Each one is gently rolled and placed in a sturdy tube so it reaches you just as it left my home.
